For me photography became a hobby about 4 years ago when I bought my first compact digital camera. With my new camera I started experimenting by taking different types and styles of picture, ranging from large landscapes to close up macro shots and everything in between. My attempts at all these different types of photography were so that I could try to improve my knowledge and hopefully to ultimately improve the pictures that I took. After about 12 months of practise with my compact camera I upgraded and bought my first digital SLR camera, a Canon 450D.
Not long after buying my DSLR I went to my first Camera Club meeting in Penrhyncoch. I went to the club so that not only could I show my pictures but also to get constructive feedback as to how to improve the images that I had taken.
My photography experience has continued to grow thanks to attending the Camera Club. During the summer months I’ve been getting out and about with the club capturing images at various places and events throughout Mid Wales. During the winter months there have been talks and different practical demonstrations, from the use of flash photography to taking and developing pictures with a film camera. I was also proud that one of my pictures was included in the club’s photographic exhibition in Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
