Hi, I am Ian McMahon, a 32 year old welder/fabricator living just south of Aberystwyth. It is hard for me to pinpoint when my love for photography first began. My mother always enjoyed taking snaps, so I guess it stems from that. I do however fondly remember as a youngster being fascinated by looking at other people’s photographs, trying to see not necessarily the obvious subjects but obscure things that were happening elsewhere in the frame.
I have had various cameras over the years, mostly due to my age these have all been digital. Close on five years ago now I was sick of trying various compacts and being disappointed with the results. So, I saved up some money and bought myself a Canon 400D. This is the camera I still use to this date. I would love to at some point upgrade my camera and add some new lenses to my bag, but with a young family that may have to wait a while. Recently I have bought a couple of 35 mm film cameras; I am hoping that this will help my photography, without relying too much on Photoshop. I enjoy my photography, even though I am very much an amateur, if other people also like some of the photographs I take then that please me even more.
